4 out of 5 stars Evolutions: The Fett Legacy is FINALLY HERE!   February 28, 2008

When I saw preview images from the Toyfare, I was salivating for them (ever since I was a Boba Fett fan).

Anyway, this set includes 3 figures: 1x Mandalore the Indomitable, 1x Jango Fett, and 1x Boba Fett. The first two figures mentioned are completely new sculpts. Boba Fett however, borrows the sculpt from previous figures.

I don't know anything about Mandalore the Indomitable, but his figure is great! He has the following: a ball-jointed neck, ball-hinged shoulders, ball-hinged elbows, swivel forearms, (new type of) ball-jointed midsection, ball-hinged knees, ball-hinged ankles, and swivel wrists. His shield fits perfectly on his arm, although he has a slightly hard time holding onto his axe-like weapons and spear. Due to the straps attached to his mask/face, Mandalore's head movement is somewhat restricted. What is eye-catching about this particular figure is the attention to the detail of his robes, mask, and body armor. His weapons also look ancient, but still sharp-looking. The cape is made of cloth, which is always a nice touch. This figure has no problem standing up on any surface. Overall, easily one of the best figures from this set.

The Jango Fett figure is an all new sculpt. He has the following: a ball-jointed neck, ball-hinged shoulders, ball-hinged elbows, swivel forearms, (new type of) ball-jointed midsection, ball-hinged knees, and ball-hinged ankles. The most exciting feature of this figure is that his helmet is removable! Underneath is a pretty accurate portrayal of Jango Fett from the movies. His helmet is made of some rubbery-plastic type of material. The main problem I have with the helmet is that the mask is a bit too thin and is way too close to his face (when Jango dons on his helmet). His helmet is also painted slightly darker, which gives it a nice look to it. Also it's interesting to note that his antennae is much longer than I remember. Also the antennae is molded to stand straight up (it can't be folded down). Jango also comes with his pilot gear, which fits snugly on his head. This newly added accessory is great, because it gives you two figures for the price of one! However, the real beauty of this figure is the completely new sculpt of his body. The holsters are sculpted to the finest detail! What's even better, is that his pistols actually fit in both his holsters! The attention to the belt is also immaculate. A new addition to the sculpt are a separate sculpt of wires that connect his gauntlets to wherever his flamethrower comes from. Jango has no problem standing up without any support. Overall, this is the ESSENTIAL Jango Fett figure to have!

This particular Boba Fett figure is a mashup of previous versions of him from older releases. He has the following: a ball-jointed neck, ball-hinged shoulders, ball-hinged elbows, swivel forearms, (new type of) ball-jointed midsection, ball-hinged knees, and ball-hinged ankles. I didn't understand why they removed swivel wrists from this Boba Fett figure, which really hurt his articulation. The most visible new sculpt are the wookie braids, which I think look way better than the painted on version of the VOTC Boba Fett. He also sports a newly sculpted pistol holster that he wears on his back. The pistol fits snugly in its holster as well. This Boba Fett sports the armor from "Empire Strikes Back". The details on the helmets are okay, but considerably worse when compared to the 300th Edition Boba Fett (The details on that Boba Fett are still the BEST). Interestingly, Fett's antennae is visibly much shorter than previous versions. Also, the antennae is molded onto the helmet to stand straight (meaning, it can no longer fold down). The paint on Boba's armor looks a bit washed out, which doesn't look pretty. Fett has quite a bit of trouble holding onto his blaster rifle (so don't remove the little plastic/rubbery band around the gun and his hand!). Most Fett figures have his signature Mandalore insignia on his left armored shoulder, but because of his ball-hinged shoulders, the insignia is pushed all the way to the bottom of the armored shoulder, effectively shrinking the once visible Mandalore insignia. It doesn't look pretty. The cape looks nice as well, but it feels quite stiff. It feels as if the cape has been ironed or glued together. Also, Fett has trouble keeping his jetpack on (which is unfortunate). Fett's helmet is also removable! The facial sculpt is the same as the 30th Anniversary Stormtrooper, except the scar marks are more vibrant, and his eyes don't look drugged. His helmet is made of some rubbery-plastic type of material (the same as Jango's). The main problem I have with the helmet is that the mask is a bit too thin and is way too close to his face (when Jango dons on his helmet). Overall, this Boba Fett is the weakest figure from this entire set.

If you're a huge Star Wars/Fett fan, this Evolutions Pack was made for you!
