This toy is not for the serious collector or display piece December 22, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this piece as a display item, but found out it is more of a kiddie toy. When the wings are closed, the wings do not line up, give the appearence that the cannons are attached in a crooked fashion. Also, there is no lights or sounds from this toy. The R2 figure is not poseable as other R2s have been in terms of its head or legs. Overall, this toy was a disappointment.
Very Impressive Ship! October 23, 2002 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is one of the best ships produced for the Star Wars line. The sculpt is much closer to the real thing than the first one. Some points to keep in mind are: The paint job (in my opinion) is a little extreme if you compare it to the movie ship. Also the wings and weapons are made from a more flexible plastic, so some caution should be exercised. On the good points, the ship is more to scale to the figures and the seat tilts forward to reveal a space for the accessories included. There's a compartment behind the cockpit for the R2-D2 that is included. As a matter a fact the compartment will hold every astromech that has been created (for now), even the first Artoo made will fit in with slight effort (I should know, I've tried). For the die-hard collectors, the RD-D2 is made from the same mold as the R2-B1 from the Episode 1 line and the ship is the same as the Electronic Power F/X with mold changes. There are three landing struts that are manually operated and the wings open and lock into the X position with a lever on the back that is pushed down and to the side. Have fun and "May the Force be With You".
Arrived Damaged - But the Ship is wonderful! September 29, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I received both the new Landspeeder and the X-wing in damaged condition. Either TRU must figure out how to package these or you might consider going to the store to get them! The X-Wing itself is simply great!
X-WING REDUX September 26, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is essentially a re-issue of the Hasbro Electronic X-Wing minus the electronics. Also removed from this version is the handle and attachment slot. In their place is restored detailing. Decals provide more cockpit detail, and an open droid socket allows for a variety of R2 droids to tag along for the ride. The ship loses points however for an absolutely hideous swamp "weathering" job, and the crisp edges of the nosecone have been blunted-probably as some misguided child safety move-especially since the nosecone is made of some pliable rubberlike material anyway. Still, this studio-sized toy is the best, most affordable, and fun replica ever produced of this particular craft, besides its electronic brother-which, to me, was among one of the best toys ever made!
WOW ! FUN ! September 23, 2002 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I grabbed this one as soon as i saw it. Hasbro has done a great job on this X Wing. Very detailed, lots of accessories, great paint job. My only complaint is the lack of electronic features, but even if you have the old X Wing, you should grab this one, it's scaled much more accurately, and slimy little R2 is just sooooooo cute :) Good Job Hasbro!!
